For your final paper of the semester, write a 3-5 page essay about Galatea 2.2.

Due dates

  1. Bring a draft of your essay to class on Monday, May 10. We will discuss the drafts in class.
  2. Submit your final version of the paper in class on Wednesday, May 12. Your paper should be well structured, well argued, well proofread, and well edited. Cite references by page numbers; if you wish to refer to a source other than Galatea 2.2, indicate it clearly.

Choose one of the following topics:

  1. Compare and contrast Philip Lentz in Galatea 2.2 to Rodney Brooks in Flesh and Machines.

  2. In what ways does communication via natural language play important roles in the book?

  3. In class, we decided the title of the book refers to the myth of Pygmalion and Galatea. Describe that myth and compare and contrast it with what happens in Galatea 2.2.

You may choose another aspect of the book than these; however, if you wish to do so, you must clear the topic with me well in advance (sooner rather than later). If you are still looking for some extra credit, you may submit more than one paper.
